Are selenoprotein annotations correct?

Every effort is made to ensure that annotations in SelenoDB are correct. Each gene model is computationally validated and manually curated. However, several factors may conspire against the accuracy of our predictions (see Disclaimer):

  • Errors in the original reference sequence or genome
  • Undetected splicing variants
  • Low sequence homology with known sequences
  • Limitations of in silico analysis
  • Undetected human annotation errors
In any case, gene models should be understood as work in progress. Annotations may be refined as new data and techniques come along (improved gene versions will have increasingly greater release numbers eg. 1.0, 2.0, 3.0...). Please, report annotation errors following the appropiate links in each gene report.
